Senior Communications Specialist

Summary:

Responsible for developing and managing internal communication strategies that support academic and clinical leadership objectives.

 Job Duties:

  • Develop, manage and measure internal communications projects for the program director, in partnership with the associate director and academic and clinical leadership
  • Conduct communications research and analyze results to inform decisions on communication strategies
  • Generate ideas for communications strategies and develop related plans and materials; conduct interviews with employees at all levels and write articles for publications and other media
  • Routinely attends face-to-face meetings with leadership, attends key customer meetings and is available for consultation, as needed
  • Consistently tracks and analyzes success of program, projects and initiatives, provides status reports and identifies as well as solves potential problems
  • Collaboration with team members, members of media, or designers/printers to create print, online and broadcast materials
  • Implement, manage or maintain internal communications programs that promote, or invite participation of leadership, for employees in targeted areas, as well as for all employee audiences
  • Routine collaboration with external communication team members to share themes and messages with our external audiences

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent writing, editorial, and communications skills
  • Comfort interacting and working with leadership
  • Demonstrated ability to write on behalf of senior-level executives
  • Highly organized and detailed oriented
  • Working knowledge of social media and proven experience in this area
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusting relationships and establish strong credibility with partners
  • Ability to take initiative while managing multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency to find great stories, hone them, and tell them in a compelling way
  • Comfort working with news media
  • A quick study and a desire to become a subject matter expert on many topics
  • Experience working with a variety of desktop programs and online performance analysis tools

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism or English
