Senior Systems Administrator

Summary:

Must possess the ability to troubleshoot system hardware, software, and operating and system management systems.  Analyze, diagnose and implement solutions to maintain performance of critical business systems and infrastructure.  Understanding of current and developing technologies is a must.  Provide user support for technology issues for both on-site and remote field service clients.  Document issues and communicate solutions thoroughly with other team members and management.

Job Duties:

  • Engineer and maintain both virtual and physical Windows 2008 / 2012 servers to 99.8 +% availability
  • Maintain a VMware ESXi 5.1/5.5 server and VDI environment
  • Support Citrix XenApp/MetaFrame client computing environment
  • Manage Exchange 2010 server environment
  • Manage and Maintain EMC VNX SAN environment
  • Work closely with other IT areas to achieve optimal performance
  • Run audit reports against the systems environment for regulatory compliance
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software problems
  • Scale the infrastructure to support additional capacity and usage
  • Work in a team environment with and multi-task on various projects
  • Support technical resources that support the network/system infrastructure to 13 division offices and approximately 125 sales offices
  • Monitors/maintains systems performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining system policies and procedures
  • Secures customer systems by developing system/remote access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation
  • Enhances the Network Operations and Infrastructure team accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answering technical and procedural questions for Executives and less experienced team members; teaching improved processes; mentoring team members
  • Act as escalation point for many systems related issues
  • Solid understanding of LAN/WAN Network protocols and wide area network technologies. Strong understanding of Subnetting
  • Manages projects, tasks and requests to provide support to end-users
  • Participates in the development of RFP’s and negotiation, administration and evaluation for equipment and services
  • Performs all other duties as required

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Exchange Server, Windows Server, Windows Desktop Systems, & SQL
  • VMware VSphere, ESX/ESXi, vCenter
  • Red Hat and similar Linux systems, MySQL
  • Networked storage environments, such as iSCSI & NFS
  • TCP/IP and related protocols
  • Wired & WiFi communications
  • VoIP systems, including Cisco CUCM, Unity, & Call Center
  • Management and troubleshooting of USB devices and drivers
  • Management of custom device interconnections
  • Familiar with computer imaging concepts, practices and procedures
  • Up-to-date on relevant solutions, products, and services
  • Knowledge of PC hardware, configuration and troubleshooting

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems or related discipline
