Systems Administrator

Summary:

Maintains the day-to-day operations of server systems by monitoring system performance, install and configuration, maintenance and repair of server hardware and operating systems.

Job Duties:

  • Follows guidelines and methods for installation and management of server operating systems
  • Follows procedures, programs and documentation for backup and restoration of host operating systems and host-based applications
  • Install new software releases, system upgrades, evaluate and install patches, and resolve software related problems
  • Maintain, monitor, and analyze system components, system security and disk utilization
  • Manages helpdesk ticket queues
  • Maintains current inventory
  • Participate in on-call rotation for 24/7 availability for system problems
  • Stays current with technological developments in systems administration technology and recommends ways to take advantage of new technology
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Windows 2008, 2008R2, 2012, & 2012R2 Server administration
  • Linux Server Administration
  • Active Directory
  • VMware ESXi-5
  • PowerShell
  • Frequently communicates verbally with peers and management
  • Must be able to analyze detail close-up

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Information Technology
  • 2+ years of experience with Microsoft and Linux Server Operating Systems
  • 1+ years virtualization both server and desktop environments

OR

  • Associates degree
  • 4+ years of experience with Microsoft and Linux Server Operating Systems
  • 3+ years virtualization both server and desktop environments OR HS diploma
  • 6+ years of experience with Microsoft and Linux Server Operating Systems
  • 5+ years virtualization both server and desktop environments
