Network Analyst

Summary:

Responsible for assisting the Network Architect in the company wide implementation, maintenance, and administration of data and voice network. The position carries out coordination, installation, testing, and technical tasks in support of the local and wide area wired and wireless network systems and participates in developing and implementing network security procedures and network management plans. 

 Job Duties:

  • Assists the Network Architect with designing and configuring the local and wide area, wired and wireless, and voice networks
  •  Manages the daily activities of local and wide area network systems, performs diagnostics, schedules preventative maintenance ensuring network systems are operational, and reports systems faults to the Network Architect
  •  Responsible for installation, administration, and testing of network equipment such as: routers, switches, firewalls, cabling, and other related network components under the guidance of the Network Architect and in accordance with company standards
  •  Provides support to Systems Technicians at the corporate office as well as remote sites during responses to emergency and other work requests; troubleshoots network failures and errors; and diagnoses, isolates, and resolves routine to moderately complex network related problems ensuring timely results and minimal disruption of operations and reports findings to the Network Architect
  •  Assists the Network Architect with developing, monitoring, and implementing network security procedures for safeguarding all networking systems
  •  Assists with developing pricing/quotes with vendors for network components, equipment, and cabling for new implementations or upgrades
  •  Maintains updates network documentation of installations, upgrades, configurations, etc.
  • Manages network management programs and prepare network status reports

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • Industry leading certification such as Network+ or CCNA or 3 additional years of experience in computer network support and maintenance
  • Strong working knowledge of, and the ability to practically apply the principles and practices used in the design, configuration, installation, testing, and maintenance of local and wide area computer wired and wireless networks (Cisco preferred)
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose/resolve network system problems
  • Ability to assist with developing network security and related procedures; and assist with performing network management activities
  • Ability to prioritize tasks in order of importance. Work independently and as well as a team member; establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers and peers

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer systems (or related field) or equivalent years of experience in computer network support and maintenance
  • 3 or more years of experience in computer network support and maintenance
