Summary:
Executing, monitoring and ensuring all backups for operating systems and databases are completed daily.
Job Duties:
- Actively monitoring all data center infrastructure systems, responding timely to all alerts, performing first level triage, escalating to appropriate internal or external support team or vendor
- Actively channels all incidents to the appropriate support team after performing level 1 support
- Understands and analyzes incidents and problems to show trends and potential problem areas
- Understands incident management metrics (e.g., resolution time, automated vs. manual responses) and works to achieve high performance
- Perform operational support processes including scheduling, hardware monitoring and reporting, vendor escalations, asset management, offsite tape management, vendor coordination and all other data center operational activities
- Perform any system administration tasks that are required, working with the appropriate team members. Perform hard system shutdowns or reboots on infrastructure components as required
- Monitoring the physical environment and the PDU’s and Air Conditioning systems to ensure a stable environment
- Escalating issues immediately to management and building facility
- Completing all scheduled reoccurring system reboots
- Maintaining the disaster recovery manual. Obtain information from various team members and perform timely updates. Participate in disaster recovery activities
- Issue a daily operations report including status on backups, status of scheduled changes, hardware issues, open incident tickets, planned reboots and all other operational activities
- Develops and follows agreed standards of data center operations activities
- Provide expertise to project managers to understand project priorities and help sequence implementations and modifications accordingly
- Work with internal and external services vendors to ensure superior service delivery for all infrastructure systems Build vendor relations as appropriate
- Contributes to staff development and internal departmental process improvement acting as a role model and mentor to colleagues

- Intermediate knowledge of Network Technologies, such as routers, switches, firewalls, sniffer, ISDN, Frame Relay, TCP/IP and Wide Area/ Local Area Network architectures
- Advanced knowledge and experience with Disaster Recovery processes and technologies, including Dasd and Server backup and restore products, such as Legato, Evault, Avamar, FDR, Upstream, etc. Be able to perform these processes with minimal supervision and training
- Ability to assume a leadership role in the event the Shift Assistant Manager is out of the office or unavailable
Education and Experience:
- Associates or Technology College degree in computer science, networking or software
- 3-5 years related work experienced
