Senior Test Technician

Summary:

Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks. May lead and direct the work of others. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Job Duties:

  • Obtain and set up testing equipment in accordance to test specifications
  • Test, troubleshoot and repair when necessary product failures
  • Analyze product circuitry in order to isolate component failure and provide detailed repair instructions to circuit card assembly operators
  • Document test readings, conditions and evaluate returned products for root cause analysis/ repair
  • Assist in the evaluation of testing procedures, testing equipment and work procedures
  • Conduct functional and operational tests to evaluate performance and reliability of deliverable product
  • May test various individual components such as circuit card assemblies and cables used in systems
  • Assist with final quality testing of finished systems to make sure each is functioning according to engineering specifications prior to shipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation of product test results and update troubleshooting logs
  • Test, calibrate, certify ESD control item equipment/ workstations to ANSI/ESD2020 relevant standards, and document results
  • Investigate electronic failures
  • Perform general assembly and disassembly of electronic equipment
  • Ability to recognize fine details such as solder bridges and broken traces/wires
  • Ability to perform in a team environment with good inter-personal skills is necessary

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Must be detailed-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task to meet deadlines
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential with the ability to interface with other departments
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish and draw valid conclusions
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables
  • Ability to resolve issues by applying creative thinking

  • Ability to resolve issues or propose resolution to responsible parties
  • Ability to work well independently

Education and Experience:

  • Two-year college degree, or equivalent, in electronics, computer science, information systems and/or related technical school plus five years electrical/electronic test technician experience
  • Must have experience performing test and diagnostics using test equipment such as multi-meters, software network analyzers, and other related test equipment
