Business Analyst/Consultant III

Summary:

Responsible for development and documentation of user stories, use cases, features, and requirements in support of client customer self-service applications

Job Duties:

  • Conduct data gathering and analysis to understand business strategy requirements. 
  • Lead and provide direction for short and long-term planning sessions and provide direction to ensure understanding of business goals and direction.
  • Provide input from a business and IT perspective.
  • Lead the assessment of client needs utilizing a structured requirements process (gathering, analyzing, documenting, and managing changes) to prioritize immediate business needs and recommend options, risks and cost vs. benefits. 
  • Analyze customer’s operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities for improvements.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and draft proposals for evaluation by appropriate users and managers.
  • Develop and assist in the presentation of businesses cases.
  • Develop user test cases and system integration testing and validate test results during testing. 
  • Review and approve test plans and monitor testing process to ensure that business results are adequately tested with minimal risk, as needed.

  • Procure technical assistance to help in problem resolution.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics to ensure customer satisfaction. 
  • Keeps customers informed of problems, issues, and status. 
  • Manage customers’ expectations. 
  • Ensure IT solutions meet customers’ needs.
  • Coach and transfer knowledge to less experienced team members.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Data analysis experience using a variety of analytical tools
  • Very strong SQL, PL/SQL Oracle skills
  • Strong understanding of SDLC process
  • Expert understanding of relational databases
  • Prior experience with Data Mart and Data warehousing projects
  • Knowledge of Business Objects Web Intelligence a plus
  • Ability to interact with business and technical teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Self-starter and motivated team player
  • Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Suite, including PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Solid business drafting skills
  • Consistency in delivering error-free work, on time, at standards that meet or exceed expectations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated capability in documenting and maintaining processes
  • Strong knowledge of SDLC processes, with FNM experience a plus
  • Be familiar with HP Quality Center, Rational Requisite Pro and Rational Clear Quest
  • Demonstrated capability in establishing and maintaining successful relationships with business and technology partners

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Computer Programming, Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent
  • Five (5) years of relevant technical or business work experience
