Senior Network Administrator

Summary:

Focus on administration of the hardware infrastructure including planning, implementation and monitoring of existing/future systems.  Other responsibilities include support of core business applications and ensuring prompt response to onsite and remote end user issues.  Maintains documentation of procedures and systems.  

Job Duties:

  • Allocate network resources, including analyzing global network capacity and growth requirements, and recommend upgrades and enhancements to meet long-term needs
  • Participate in network upgrades and conversions, including installing, configuring, and maintaining production routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Identify, address, and correct existing or potential network issues using network monitoring, diagnostic, and analytics tools in order to provide business continuity. May be required to escalate issues to outside consultants/vendors as appropriate
  • Develop and maintain documentation, specifications, network contingency plans, and disaster recovery plans for all network components, including existing and new hardware, software, and cabling. This also includes maintaining up-to-date records of all system assets and licenses
  • Participate in corporate capacity planning activities in order to determine future architecture requirements and network configurations. May include cost and design analysis
  • Train new employees and coach colleagues to enhance their technical skills, system knowledge, and troubleshooting techniques. May occasionally act as an escalation point for other engineers
  • Drives analysis, design and implementation of new/updated business technology systems
  • Takes appropriate action when pre-defined security and performance thresholds are exceeded
  • Responsible for keeping all responsible systems patched and up to date with latest appropriate software security updates
  • Maintains data security and confidentiality of bank and/or customer data
  • Follows and drives established procedures and policies around incident, change, vulnerability and project management
  • Attends weekly team meetings and provides a status report each week

 Skills and Qualifications:

  • Advanced knowledge of networking systems, protocols, software and technologies including but not limited to routers, switches, load balancers and WAN technologies
  • Thorough understanding of WAN/LAN/DMZ/etc, VPN’s, TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs, etc. in a distributed environment
  • Experience in design, configuration and troubleshooting of OSPF, BGP, VRF's and BGP
  • Experience with Cisco ASA firewall clusters, Palo Alto Network firewalls
  • Experience with Cisco Nexus, 7000’s, 5000’s, 2000’s, VDC’s/VRF’s, Catalyst and access layer switches
  • Knowledge of the following vendor specific technologies; F5 BigIP/LTM/GTM, Cisco routing/switching
  • Managing IPSEC VPN encryption platforms and policies
  • Routing protocols including OSPF and BGP (IGP/EGP), Cisco IOS, EIGRP, BGP, OSPF environments
  • Cisco Nexus 7K, 5K and 2K series equipment
  • Knowledge of IP traffic flow, protocol analysis, capturing and monitoring of live traffic streams
  • Any Cisco certifications is a plus

 Education and Experience:

  • Associates’ degree or equivalent certifications/training/experience in information technology, computer science, engineering or related field
  • 7+ year of work experience in a network engineering role
